Dan Mcgregor received a master's in international political economy at the American University, Washington DC, where he wrote several pieces on political economy. One such piece was his thesis, "Obama Reforms American Development Policy: Moving Beyond the Trappings of the Washington Consensus." Dan Mcgregor also wrote the article "Washington Consensus; Relevant But Not Dominant.' He moved to Baltimore, Maryland in 2012. According to him, Baltimore felt like home and made him happy.

As an economist, Mr. McGregor joined the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) in 2014. In this position, he helped the bureau perform a benchmarking process that reconciled its monthly estimates to an accurate quarterly employment consensus.

Mr. McGregor was also a part of the bureau's Seasonal Adjustment team. As a member, he trained other analysts in performing seasonal adjustment calculations on the bureau's employment estimates. Still, while serving as an economist at the BLS, Mr. McGregor was a member of the New Products Team. This cross-office-bureau-wide team was responsible for brainstorming and designing data products like "Tinder for Jobs," a mobile app that helped young professionals explore career paths.

Mr. McGregor loves to listen to Punk music when he's not busy at work. He prefers to live in Baltimore because the city allows him to be punk.
